RECIPES WITH CHEESE
Macaroni pie with feta, graviera and “apaki”
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 25-30 minutes
INGREDIENTS (serves 6-8 people)
1 packet of bucatini pasta
400 g STAMOU Greek graviera (hard yellow matured cheese)
300 g STAMOU PDO feta cheese
200 g cream cheese
50 g butter
4 eggs
200 g “apaki” (cured pork)
Salt and freshly ground pepper
Fresh thyme
METHOD
- Boil the pasta in salted water according to the instructions.
- Drain and add half the butter.
- Sauté the “apaki” with the remaining butter.
- Crumble the feta cheese into a bowl.
- Grate the graviera cheese and add it to the bowl with the feta. Mix well.
- Butter a 26 cm cake tin with a removable base.
- Mix the macaroni with the cheese mix and the “apaki”, and then layer it evenly in the cake tin.
- Whip the cream cheese to make it fluffy, and thoroughly combine with the beaten eggs to create an even mixture.
- Season with salt and pepper and sprinkle with fresh thyme.
- Pour the mixture over the pie and bake at 200oC for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown.
